Lee Marriott, lived in Moscow (2004-2014). Racism. Obviously anyone of any colour can have problems anywhere with people of a different colour. But if you are not white/slavic looking in Moscow you will experience racism on a regular basis. This will range from low level (people not serving you in a shop) to potential violence… think thugs on a Metro. When I worked in Moscow, for an American company and we had American visitors (i.e., I mean black ones) then we had to give them ‘the talk’ and limit where we took them out.
