Hello all, pls find attached a photo taken yesterday at oxford circus on route 25. This is part of a Europe wide project financed by the European Union, where 50 such buses were distributed for operation in London -3 buses, madrid, Luxembourg some towns in Germany Holland and the like,. the chassis and the body are Mercedes and citaro. The engine is another matter. Daimler Chryseler provided the specially adopted engine. The pods on the roof is where you store the fuel cells and stacks, cooling units ,air condition units and water vapour. where the engine compartment is, houses an eletric motor. The bus is run on Hydrogen supplied in a form of cylinders and in a pressurised gas. The emission from the bus is steam- just clean water. This has already earned the bus a nickname- the Kettle. The bus is quiet and very nice to ride on, but can not go fast - 40 miles per hour, and can only go for 125 miles before being re-fulled. It is also a heavy bus. weight 14000 kg. , and it seats 30 people. a dart seating 30 passangers weight is less than 7000kg, while a double deck -11000 kg. There are 3 vehicles, out of which 2 buses are running every day on specific schedules, the cost of each bus? GBP500,000. Regards Yoram.
