it can be too sensitive. don't forget that your camera is gonna be shaked in the airplane, shaked during falling, shaked during opening etc. etc. even the MiniDVs sometimes don't like that shakings, so a DVD recorder and burner??? hmmm.... plus - i don't know it, and don't know it's buffering properties (if any) but the whole procedure of taking out the material sounds to me a bit harder to do. notice that there are no so many cameras in this media yet. it shows that this media, for a camera, might not be ripe (BASHEL) yet... for the MiniDVs - try to find anything from the Sony PC series. these are old but the best. but even if not - any camera that you'll buy in the US - PAY ATTENTION that it is a PAL system camera, and not NTSC, and but a camera with a DV IN+OUT connections. good luck.
