Fox has included 4 (yes, count them, 4!) audio commentaries. The first one has director David Fincher talking about the film, and talk he does. I had actually never heard a commentary by him before. He did a couple, both for Criterion's releases of Seven and The Game on laserdisc. I missed those but understood he liked to talk on those as well. In this track he really concentrates on the making of the film. He tells of how they came up with some of the ideas, what they were aiming for and how they did some of the things (though that's been left really for the technical commentary). It's a good track and worth a listen. Track number 2 is probably the best one. This includes David Fincher, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The three were all recorded together. This is probably the more entertaining track as Pitt and Norton talk and talk, sharing their opinions, anecdotes and personal reflections about the other's performance ("This is your shining moment" is what Brad Pitt says of Norton's self-fight). Fincher kind of lingers in the background, but he's forgiven since he had his own good track. They also reflect on the criticism that the movie received and offer some great opinions. It's also pretty funny just listening to these three. Helena Bonham Carter also appears on this track, recorded separately. She offers her own opinions on the film and tells of what drew her to it. She also points out some interesting points, like those aren't her breasts and she wishes they were. The third track is probably the most disappointing. This one has the author Chuck Palanhuik and screen writer Jim Uhls. This is a fairly dead track, the two only speaking up once in a while. Palanhuik offers the more interesting points, like how he wrote the book basically during board meetings, plus he also comments on the friends that influenced some of the ideas. From this aspect, the track offers a bit into the writing of the book, but not much else into the translation onto screen. The fourth track is a much better one. While it's not as talkie as the first two (though more so than the third) it offers a lot of info. What's the most interesting fact? Those subliminal Brads that appear were made for the DVD crowd. How nice!

My, oh my, where to begin? You better set aside a whole day for the extra features alone on this 2-disc special edition, cause here you'll find no less than four audio commentary tracks. The first is by David Fincher. The second is by Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter and David Fincher again. On the third you'll find author of "Fight Club", Chuck Palahniuk, and screenwriter, Jim Uhls. And finally, the fourth commentary features production designer Alex McDowell, Director of Photography Jeff Cronenweth, costumer Michael Kaplan, FX supervisor Kevin Haug, and animator Doc Bailey
