BVE It stands for: BOSO VIEW EXPRESS Anyway... The sim had spawned a huge following, mainly in Japan and the UK. Also, many european routes are available. American routes are almost non-existent though, people here hardly know of BVE and for the most part play MSTS (Microsoft Train Simulator). Why do I think it's better than MSTS? Well, one word: PHYSICS Msts has a lot of eyecandy (you can view the train from the outside, etc) but the'physics and sound are awful: the train is glued to the track (no suspention or superelevation of rails are present) and the sound is flat and unrealistic. Acceleration and braking of trains is also pretty bad BVE is another story, though. It has AWESOME physics realism, and great sound. It is a sim in the pure sense though, there is no eye candy: the view is only from the cab of the train forward. And, of course, MSTS costs 50$ (now that is a whaste of money if I ever had one) and BVE is completely FREE!! w Anyway, there are TWO versions of BVE that are available: the "regular" BVE and the 2.9 Beta of BVE, which Mackoy had released and then took off his site for further development. I advise you to first download the "regular" version and get aquailted with it, and then get the 2.9 beta. The difference: the regular versions are a complete product, it works better, has extensive help available online and provides lots of info during the simulation. But - it only works in 640x480 resolution (which still looks great, by the way) w The 2.9 Beta provides you with 1024x800 fullscreen awesome resolution but it has no info screens, no timetable, no other displays... So as I said: after you get aquainted with the regular BVE, and know your way around some routes, you can get the 2.9 Beta to drive them with better graphics. Also, an important fact is: the program itself does not contain ANY routes or trains. You'd have to download routes seperately. Routes are made by 3rd party developers, and are all absolutely free. The BVE community is very strict about that: everything is freeware, and available. Okay, now the links and instructions. Copy/paste them into your browser. I would also atttach them to the bottom of the message, but just in case... w The BVE official website is: http://mackoy.cool.ne.jp It is in japanese, sadly, but he provided enough information for english speaking users to access it. You should click the large screenshot that is under the label "GET" w "Then click on "BVE ver 2.6 After that, click on "English" w This will link you to the download of the english version of BVE. After you installed the program, download a route a try to run it. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND to download one of the following (swesome) routes: Bermingham X-City south by Anthony Bowden http://www.railsimroutes.co.uk NOTE: for that route you must download the Class 323 train from the same site. You don't need the Passenger view version for now, just the cab view version. London Underground Northern Line by Steeve Green http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk The train for the route is available on the same site (it is the 1995 tube stock) Install the routes and ENJOY!!!!w Both sites have detailed explanations for beginner BVE users. After you've tried and drove these two routes, get the other routes those pages. Or you can go to http://www.bve-routes.com for the most extensive database of BVE routes available Also, if you want to take a stab at recreating some of Israel's routes for BVE, that page also offers the BVE RouteBuilder, another pience of freeware that allows you to create your own routes! w תהנו לכם, חבר'ה![]()

Or you can go to http://www.bve-routes.com for the most extensive database of BVE routes available Also, if you want to take a stab at recreating some of Israel's routes for BVE, that page also offers the BVE RouteBuilder, another pience of freeware that allows you to create your own routes! w
