Nature vs. Nurture, ואני נוטה להאמין יותר בNature בנושא הזה
כפי שאת כבר יודעת. אני מאמין שרוב הגברים נוטים להיות גבריים מטבעם, ולהמשך לתחביבים גבריים מטבעם, יש הרבה מחקרים שתומכים בכך וזה קיים גם אצל מרבית בעלי החיים, באופן טבעי, ומה טבעי יותר מאשר בעלי חיים? לטוב ולרע(לא הכל טוב ונחמד בטבע אבל זה מה יש). גם בתור ילד אני זוכר שיצא לי לראות גם סדרות שלא כוללות כוח/אלימות, ואני זוכר שאפילו אז הרגשתי שרובן הרבה פחות מעניינות מאשר סדרות בסיגנון פאוור ריינג'רס וצבי הנינג'ה, לפחות מבחינתי וכל זה עוד לפני שגדלתי, והפכתי לגבר, בצורה שלמה יותר, ועם רמה גבוהה הרבה יותר של טסטוסטרון. בעיקרון אני גם לא רואה בעיה עם הקונספט שגבר חזק ובעל גוף אתלטי נחשב לאטרקטיבי יותר(לפחות מבחינה פיזית), זה נתפס לדבר טבעי והגיוני מבחינתי, ואני אומר את זה אפילו בתור גבר שהוא לא סופר אתלטי, אבל אין לי בעיה לפרגן לגברים שזה מגיע להם. ברור שמדובר באידאל ולא כל אחד יכול לעמוד באידאלים, באופן מושלם, אבל זה הגיוני שלהיות חזק נחשב לדבר טוב, כמו גם להיות יפה. מה גם שגם במקרה של הרקולס וגם במקרה של הצייד גסטון(מהיפה והחיה), הם לא "רק" חזקים, אלא הם גם יפים, אם כי במקרה של גסטון, הוא אומנם נראה כמעט מושלם על פניו, אבל בסופו של דבר הוא מתברר כלא כזה מושלם והוא גם הנבל של הסיפור.
ממתי נבל של סיפור אמור להוות השראה לאיך צריך להתנהג? אם כי נכון שגם נבלים לפעמים זוכים ללא מעט הערצה(במיוחד אם הם נראים טוב או/ו הם נבלים עם סטייל די מרשים), בגלל קונספט שנקרא "Draco in Leather Pants", אפילו אם זאת בכלל לא הייתה כוונת היוצר/ת. גברים נוטים להיות חזקים יותר באופן טבעי, ואני לא חושב שיש טעם לנסות להתווכח עם ביולוגיה, גברים נוטים להיות גבוהים ושריריים יותר מנשים, לכן כוח נחשב למאפיין שמזוהה יותר עם גבריות, בנוסף בגלל רמה גבוהה יותר של טסטוסטרון, גברים גם נוטים להיות אגרסיבים יותר וכנועים פחות, לטוב ולרע. זה נכון שהחברה לפעמים מגדילה את הפערים בין גברים ולנשים בנושא, ולפעמים גם מגזימה בציפיות שלה כלפי רמה של גבריות ונשיות, אבל בבסיס הנטיות האלו טבעיות, הן לא הופיעו יש מאין, וזאת לא המצאה של החברה, ועובדה שגם אצל בעלי חיים רבים זה קיים. בכל מקרה כמו שהקונספט "Rated M for Manly" מראה, בהחלט יצירות עם רמה גבוהה של אלימות מיועדות בעיקר לקהל הגברי(אם כי יש גם לא מעט נשים שאוהבות תיצירות האלו, בין היתר משום שיש הרבה נשים שאוהבות גברים חזקים), אבל היצירות האלו כל כך פופולריות בקרב גברים כי זה מה שגברים אוהבים, בדרך כלל. אם יוצר רוצה להצליח, הוא צריך לעשות יצירה שקהל היעד שלה יאהב, אחרת הקהל יעבור ליצירה אחרת, שיותר מעניינת מבחינתו, ובגלל נושא של חופש הביטוי וחופש יצירה, כמעט ואי אפשר לצנזר כל יצירה שלא נראת "לMoral Guardians"(במיוחד יצירה שמיועדת למבוגרים), וזה גם לא שאני לא יכול להבין את "הMoral Guardians", שהרי גם אני לא ממש תומך בBDSM לדוגמא, כפי שאלון כבר יודע.
